Ärende: making backups
======================
Hi mark,

ml> oh wow, that's quite a bit... i appreciate the effort
ml> and the work... you can send it to my wkitty42 -at-
 ml> gmail -dot- com address...

Done!

ml> i'm wondering if i can put it in startup.cmd and get
ml> the same results without the keypress?

My Startup Folder has very little in it, I prefer to manage the startup process
manually from Startup.Cmd.

Here is generally how ALL my machines start up (there are some individual
configurations but the overal concept is similar)-
Startup.Cmd -
  1. Cleans up some LOG files that I keep.
  2. Pauses for about 5 seconds to allow me to cancel and quit out of the
startup if I wish.
  3. Calls Startup2.Cmd. I use a new script that allows me to run it manually
if I need it.

Startup2.Cmd -
  1. Calls SRexx.Cmd. I use quite a lot of Rexx here and this pre-loads all the
"extra" Rexx DLL's that I use -
        Call RxFuncAdd 'SysLoadFuncs', 'RexxUtil', 'SysLoadFuncs'
        Call SysLoadFuncs
        Call RxFuncAdd 'FtpLoadFuncs', 'RxFtp', 'FtpLoadFuncs'
        Call FtpLoadFuncs 'Noprint'
        Call RxFuncAdd 'SockLoadFuncs', 'rxSock', 'SockLoadFuncs'
        Call SockLoadFuncs 'Noprint'
        Call RxFuncAdd 'RxExtra', 'RxExtras', 'RxExtra'
        Call RxExtra 'Load'
        Call RxFuncAdd 'RexxwebLoadFuncs', 'REXXWEB', 'RexxwebLoadFuncs'
        Call RexxwebLoadFuncs
        Call RxFuncAdd 'Rxuinit', 'Rxu', 'Rxuinit'
        Call Rxuinit
        Call SysWaitForShell 'Desktoppopulated'
The last line PAUSES Startup2.CMD until the Desktop is fully populated. This
ENSURES any of my Rexx scripts that need PM functions will work if they are
started during the .CMD files. This one can really bite with unpredictable
results if you try and do certain REXX things before PM is fully ready...
  2. Fires up TCP/IP and the IP things I keep running such as a Cron, a Syslog
Daemon, Tftp Server, etc.
  3. Fires up Peer Services by forcing a manual Logon.
  4. Manually maps various Network drives (NB: Replication does NOT use any
drive mappings!). If all machines on the LAN startup at the same time, this
section loops and pauses allowing for the difference in startup speed of each
machine (depending on what CHKDSK's are needed, etc). The end of this part
should have all drives mapped as I normally use them.

As I also use eCS I have my XWorksplace Startup Folder in there with pauses
betweeen each load, and here I fire up the PM apps I use, a World Clock, a USB
device monitor, Screen Saver, CAD Popup, XCentre, the eCS Scheduler, Memsize,
etc...

OOPS: The Email just failed with -
SMTP error from remote mail server after end of data:
    host gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com [64.233.163.27]:
    552 5.7.0 Illegal Attachment 15si29127297nzp

Are .ZIP files not allowed on that Email address? I will try again and rename
the file to TBACK.XXX, but it is a .ZIP archive.

Well that one hasn't bounced yet so it may have made it ok.

Cheers.............pk.
