If you are talking about the small dvi to analog DB-15 converter adapter, all
it does is pass the existing analog signals as the DVI video card is outputting
both digital and analog from it's connector.

DVI-D = digital-only connection,  DVI-I = the connector can carry either
digital or analog signals

As to a difference if your monitor is pretty good at the analog to digital
conversion process you may not see any.

At one time, a digital signal offered better image quality compared to analog
technology. However, analog signal processing technology has improved over the
years and the difference in quality is now minimal.
