768 down 128 up should be sufficient for browsing. However once you start using
DSL you will soon discover that there is a whole world out there that you have
been missing. Once you start playing with the file share networks, or video
sites, or any of the really cool stuff you will want more downspeed. I'm
currently at 6mb down and 384 up and I want more speed (I'd like more up speed,
6mb down seems sufficient for now).

Anything that does NAT (ie your internal network is 192.168.x.x) will stop
incoming connections. If you want to secure wireless then turn it off, cause
short of that anyone can still mess with you. Perhaps with some wireless they
can't hack into your communications but they can certainly crash your network
by simply flooding it with interference. It's not usually a problem but it is
pretty easy to mess with.

Keep the desktops wired, it's not like you move them around much. Wireless is
nice on a laptop.

Pretty much you just turn it on, enter a security key for your network (key
gets entered into the wireless hub and the wireless config on the laptop, and
it works.

Nah, do both, get a router that has both a bunch of ethernet ports and
wireless. Honestly the biggest problem with wireless is un secured networks
tend to get "shared" meaning someone else uses the bandwidth. You can easily
prevent that with a creative configuration.
