If you believe you have not run into other services that release =
information required by law then you must have never looked.
From http://www.google.com/privacy.html. They go further and claim =
they can share your PII if they believe it is in there interest to do = so.
a.. We do not rent or sell your personally identifying information to =
other companies or individuals, unless we have your consent. We may = share
such information in any of the following limited circumstances:=20
a.. ...
b.. We conclude that we are required by law or have a good faith =
belief that access, preservation or disclosure of such information is =
reasonably necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of = Google, its
users or the public.=20
From http://privacy.yahoo.com/privacy/us/
Yahoo! does not rent, sell, or share personal information about you =
with other people or nonaffiliated companies except to provide products = or
services you've requested, when we have your permission, or under the =
following circumstances:=20
a.. ...
b.. We respond to subpoenas, court orders, or legal process, or to =
establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims;=20
c.. We believe it is necessary to share information in order to =
investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, = suspected
fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical = safety of any
person, violations of Yahoo!'s terms of use, or as = otherwise required by law.
=20
From http://www.redhat.com/legal/privacy_statement.html
Red Hat may disclose your personal information to third parties under =
any of the following circumstances:
a.. ...
b.. As required by law (such as responding to a valid subpoena, =
warrant, audit, or agency action, or to prevent fraud). For research =
activities, including the production of statistical reports (such = aggregated
information is used to describe our services to current and = prospective
partners and other third parties, and is not used to contact = the subjects of
the report).=20
These are the very first three I looked at. I don't know where you are =
looking. It's not like these statements are doing anything except = stating
the obvious which is that if these companies are required by law = to do
something that will do it. Some go beyond that.

I've not run into any services like that. This privacy page is a =
typical
page reminding everyone that the information is there for the taking =
when
necessary.

I can only infer from this statement that if someone gets my =
Passport
login/E-mail address and password, it is useless to them.
