and how does the new UI perform a quick 3 clicks on the up arrow? You are on
the phone trying to tell someone who is 3 levels too deep to go up three levels
and you can't read the directory names, go ahead write up a step by step that
works for everyone like "click the up arrow 3 times". Oh wait, you can't do
that because the words change depending on where you are..

Sometimes consistency is a good thing. Especially if you do tech support. So
now instead of click the up arrow every procedure has to be changed to hit the
back space key and explain which is the backspace and which is the back arrow
keys..

Imagine what a colossal pain it would be to write a procedure like this if the
backspace key didn't work in previous versions, you would need a different
procedure for each version of windows.

Microsoft needs to realize one of the strengths of windows is that everyone
knows how to use it so stop changing how to use it and instead build on this
huge advantage.

old fixed purpose button.  The new UI performs an up two levels in a single

     I don't get this.  The up one level button was removed because the
  address bar now has the ability to go up any level by clicking on the name
  of any component in the hierarchy.  It also has the ability to go to any
  child or sibling of any component by clicking on the down arrow before or
  after components in the heirarchy.

    I have very limited experience with Vista Explorer, but I concur
mightily
    about the loss of the up button in the file-pick dialogue.
