New things or changes? I can't remember examples of you liking =
change. I'm sure you do have some examples but you post much more on = how
much you like things how they were with one big obsession that you = don't like
UI changes in particular.

Plenty of others have commented on how this change is an =
improvement. I=20
would have to disagree that you like change. You post a lot on how =
much you=20
dislike change and very rarely on change you like.

I like change, when it makes things better.
You need to do some tech support with people who call ISP tech =
support.=20
Tell
them to click on the third parent and they'll tell you they only =
have two
parents.
Geo.
"Rich" <@> wrote in message news:4677eb73$1@w3.nls.net...
Lovely reasoning which if followed would mean that nothing should =
ever
change again. Good luck with that.
As for folks that can tell you the location currently viewed so =
you=20
know
they are three levels too deep and can count to three to click three =
times
but can't click on the third parent, using the backspace is a fine =
idea.
Rich
"Geo." <georger@nls.net> wrote in message =

and how does the new UI perform a quick 3 clicks on the up arrow? =
You=20
are
on
the phone trying to tell someone who is 3 levels too deep to go up =
three
levels and you can't read the directory names, go ahead write up a =
step=20
by
step that works for everyone like "click the up arrow 3 times". Oh =
wait,
you
can't do that because the words change depending on where you =
are..
Sometimes consistency is a good thing. Especially if you do tech=20
support.
So
now instead of click the up arrow every procedure has to be =
changed to=20
hit
the back space key and explain which is the backspace and which is =
the
back
arrow keys..
Imagine what a colossal pain it would be to write a procedure like =
this=20
if
the backspace key didn't work in previous versions, you would need =
a
different procedure for each version of windows.
Microsoft needs to realize one of the strengths of windows is that
everyone
knows how to use it so stop changing how to use it and instead =
build on
this
huge advantage.

Horrible analogy.
The new UI performs an up one level in a single mouse click =
just like
the
old fixed purpose button. The new UI performs an up two levels in =
a
single
mouse click instead of two. The new UI performs an up three =
levels in a
single mouse click instead of three.

We removed the gas and brake pedals in your car, you just push =
back on
the
seat to brake and pull on the steering wheel to accelerate, we =
find=20
this
much more intuitive... and since pulling on the wheel increases =
with
acceleration it's actually more efficient.
The up arrow is probably one of the most uses buttons. It was a=20
mistake
to
remove it and not even leave an option to turn it back on.

I don't get this. The up one level button was removed =
because the
address bar now has the ability to go up any level by clicking =
on the
name
of any component in the hierarchy. It also has the ability to =
go to=20
any
child or sibling of any component by clicking on the down arrow =
before
or
after components in the heirarchy.

I have very limited experience with Vista Explorer, but I =
