I checked the OE timing. Read as text was from 2002 and BEC from =
2003. For Windows XP these should be SP1 and SP2. If you have IE 6.0 = on
Windows 2000 you should have gotten this from IE 6.0 SP1.

Read all as text is available in OE on W2K.

I don't remember the OE release timing. I heard of both at the =
same time and both were released first in Outlook 2003.

It wasn't at the same time, I got read as text long before XPSP2.

Probably not. <g>

It wasn't ridiculous, it was all we had before there was the =
option to=20
block
external links to block things like web bugs. (I use block =
external links
now, but that took even longer to get...)

Winnuke forced you to download what you hoped were pictures =
of J Lo and
to ignore the warning that this may be unsafe and to run the =
program you
were actually downloading? That is amazing! How many of your =
machines=20
are
infected with trojans? How often does this happen to you? =
Would a
different color icon help you?

p.s. I think read all as text is ridiculous. I would agree =

the kind of silly nonsense you like that distracts from any real =
issue.

No it hasn't been sufficient, winnuke was proof of that, =
slammer proved=20
it
again, and msblast proved it yet again. And then there are the =
"features"
that promote even more of this nonsense, like allowing a website =
to change
my homepage or add itself to my bookmarks because of some =
misleading link=20
on
the page that says <back> or something.
This stupid computer can question every time I hit cancel the =
damn
spellcheck but it can't ask me if I really wanted to change my =
homepage=20
via
a link on an untrusted zone site? And then on top of that no =
programmer in
the IE group has ever thought to add a "lock homepage via =
password"=20
feature?
Sufficient, jesus, how many years did it take to get "read all =
as text"
added to OE?
Rich, as a friend, you need to get away from work for a couple =
months
because if you honestly believe that, you've really been buried =
in that
place too long.
Geo.

There is but the problem here with the users and there =
really isn't
any room for improvement in them. The software has been =
sufficient for=20
you
to avoid getting all your machine infected.
