I agree Netscape went crappy, but not on the timing.  Netscape was better than
IE through versions 3.  At version 4 level IE and Netscape were tied, IMO.  At
the 4 version MS's plan of bundling and giving away IE had destroyed Netscape's
profit model.  The Netscape profits/cash flow was the air to which an MS exec
referred when talking about sucking all Netscape's air away.  Netscape I think
had been purchased by AOL around the time Netscape 6 came out, and AOL had the
same great success with Netscape that they've had with everything they do.
