Geo.,
One point I failed to cover is that the guys/gals that use Blackberrys = tend
to use them in settings where flipping open your laptop is not = appropriate,
but quickly checking out the latest e-mail and replying = with a canned
response is sorta OK.

Exactly John, you see where this is going. I recently bought one of =
these little wireless network detector thingies=20
=
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpN=
o=3D1238908&Sku=3DC277-1000&SRCCODE=3DGOOPROD&CMP=3DOTC-FROOGLE
and discovered that 90% of my drive home from work I'm covered under =
one open wireless network or another, and that's out here in the middle = of
nowhere USA..
I can pull over in just about any parkinglot on the way home, open my =
laptop and be on the internet in the time it takes to unsuspend. Cost me = zero
dollars. Ok granted I have to stop to do this but so what, I can't = operate a
treo while I'm driving anyway, I can't use a treo in an = airplane. So where
is the $40-70/month for data access justified?
Add to that the fact that the new 700 treo reduced the resolution of =
both the video camera and the screen and I don't see what the hell these =
people are thinking. Ooooo big deal, it talks to outlook, wow that give = me a
chubby... especially since the outlook it's going to talk to is = RIGHT FRICKEN
NEXT TO ME IN MY LAPTOP... Oh and the alltel treo doesn't = work with verizon
so once you get one you are tied to that phone = company.
Bring on wifi and lets kill off the phone companies, greedy bastards =
don't deserve to survive in this century.

Geo.,
I think you are missing the point. These dudes are for those types =
that don't have regular access to phone/DSL lines. But having said that = I
think Blackberry is going the way of the Dodo with or without this = lawsuit.
For $70 a month I can get unlimited access to Verizon's high = speed wireless
data network with a PC Card in my laptop. And pretty much = everyone that uses
a Blackberry also hauls around a laptop, so when the = laptop has better
connectivity than the Blackberry, why haul around = both? The only thing the
Blackberry has going for it is size.
