Ärende: Re: DNS registration and hosting question
=================================================
From: "Gary Britt" <email@from_Gary_Britt.org>

You'd have to go to the bluehost.com website and look at their sample control
panel or cpanel. You'll see all the program icons. Their 7.95/mo plan
includes a free, no ads, web site builder, and various programs for setting
directory permissions and access on your sight and a whole host of things.
About 20 or so different program icons. Also, their programs have interfaces
that are more intuitive to use, and their help files and faqs are actually
helpful, unlike the one's on GoDaddy where they often describe things that
don't exist, menu selections that can't be found, etc etc.

I'm pretty computer literate, but no programmer. My wife is better than the
average person, but not much. She's horrible at taking directions and worse at
taking directions over the phone. She had a web site she had built using
FrontPage 2003 and just needed to upload it. In short no better than the
average person who thinks a computer is a magic black box with no clue about
what stuff does or how it works (especially networking stuff). She nor I could
figure out how to upload a web site from GoDaddy's online info, and tech
support was of no help at all. After a week of BS run arounds waiting for
failed attempts at making changes to things to "propagate" among their servers
(just to find out the change was wrong or didn't take, etc), and my wife said
screw GoDaddy, found bluehost on her own, signed up with them, transferred her
domain to them, and had her site up and running with no problems that couldn't
be solved by Bluehost's software and located in this Country, tech support.
She did all this without me knowing or asking me a single question. GoDaddy
was unable to help her, and after looking at their software and the info the
put out online, I understood her frustration.

You can check out my wife's totally rolled on her own web site at
"Century21Photo.com".
