price rise is artificially induced to create more profit, and has nothing to do
with normal supply and demand forces.

much oil he can pump today?  Use your head.

The purpose of a cartel is to control prices to the advantage of everyone IN
the cartel.  Unless ALL members follow suit, the cartel is not doing its job.

No, Howie, there's no conspiracy going on here.  I don't care enough about you
to lie to you.  What you think has absolutely no bearing on what happens here
anyway.  I'm not lying to you because I don't lie.  Its that simple.

No, there isn't.  Estimates of total world supply put it somewhere around 300
years worth, if you figure in all potential sources.  There is at least that
much high grade coal as well.  We will have solved our fuel problem, in all
likelihood, long before 500 years goes by.

No, that's because a bunch of tree hugging assholes have thrown up so many
bogus legal roadblocks that the oil companies can't afford to build any new
ones.

You can't do maintenance when the plant is running full tilt.

Yeah, actually we do.  Let's not forget that it was America that discovered
uses for crude oil that bubbled up out of the earth, and drilled the first oil
well in western Pennsylvania in the 1850's (look up Edwin Drake).  We
discovered how to make kerosene from it, which saved the world's remaining
population of whales.  We discovered how to make use of the major by-product of
making kerosene - gasoline!  We built the first oil refinieries.  Most of the
world's major oil fields have been discovered, developed, and run by American
oil men and engineers.  And most of the innovations in oil field equipment
technology come from America.

I'd say we've more than earned the right to have cheap gasoline considering
what we've given the world.
