Yes, you will need an antenna somewhere. You can make the antennas yourself. If
you live somewhere where you can't put an antenna up outside then you can put
one up inside or use a "stealth" antenna outside.

The test cost $14 whether you take one test element or take them all at once.
So, the best way is to learn all you can and take 2 or 3 elements at one
setting. The ARRL has books for each license class and tapes or CDs for morse
code. Some clubs will have used books to loan you or you might find someone who
has passed the tests and will loan you their books.

Heh heh heh... check out your local ham club and they will even let you
use the radio with someone there as the "control operator."
Once you've been on the radio, you'll be hooked. I remember back when I first
got my license and participated in a contest. I was hooked when I called out
and unkeyed to hear a guy from New Zealand answer my call. The very next
contact was a guy from Australia. Then, at about that time I had a "pile up"
waiting to make contact with me. It was exciting.

 EH>> That's good. :-)

EH>> Sean is also a good source of information on HAM radio.

Sure he would. He might help you find other HAMs that would be willing to help
you, too. Your local ham radio club is the best source of help, though.
