Get this:


There are right about 2300 public employee pension plans in the United States,
which cover about 15 million state and local government employees.


(We aren't talking about `federal'; just state and local)


That figures out that those of us who do *not* work for a state or local
government, but in the private sector in some capacity or other, through our
taxes employ about 15 million people, paying their salaries, benefits, medical
care, and retirement plans.


In fact, some of us who work in the private sector do not even make the kind
of money in our own `salary', that some of these public employees are making
out of our taxes.


It gets better:


Right now; today.....these combined pension plans hold almost 3 *TRILLION*
dollars in assets.


(Again, this is only state and local, not federal)


It gets even batter:


Pretty well `all' public employees are eligible for the benefits of these
pension plans, as opposed to about 60% of those in the private sector.


Now ask yourself this:


Since everybody who is legally employed in the private sector pays into the
Social Security fund, how much money is `in' the Social Security fund right
now, today?


How is it that public employees, who's salaries and benefits are paid by those
of us who work in the private sector, have so far much more in `their'
combined pension assets than we working in the private sector have in ours
(the Social Security Fund)?


If I could find the exact number (or real close) of Americans who are in the
private sector work force, I suspect that the 15 million people working at the
expense of the rest of us, would be a significant percentage. My guess is it
would show to be `over' staffed.
