 >>GB>empire. His desire to emulate the US at that time and establish a
 >>GB>democracy.

EH>>We didn't fight the Chinese in WWII.

LL> We fought the Chinese in the Korean conflict.

So what? We're not talking about Korea, are we?

 EH>>They were our ally.

LL> The pre-Communist regime was our ally in China during WWII.
LL> During the Korean conflict, the Communist regime ruled China,
LL> meaning China was our enemy.

You really ought to stay out of it, Lee. You don't know what the hell you're
talking about.

EH>>We helped the Chinese against Japan.

LL> We helped the pre-Communist regime in China during WWII.
LL> Not Mao Tse-Tung and the pro-Communist rebels.

We supported the Nationalists and Chiang Kai Shek, but most of the communists
also fought the Japanese and got aid from us to do so.

 EH>>Remember the Flying Tigers?

LL> Remember the Rape of Nanking? What did we do to help the Chinese
LL> people then? Did we prevent the Japanese from raping Chinese women?

You're an idiot. The Rape of Nanking happened long before we got involved in
China. 1937-38 to be exact. 3-4 years before we were dragged into the war at
Pearl Harbor. Just how were we supposed to prevent that? Hmmm? Or are you
claiming that its our fault too?

LL> Did we prevent the Japanese from murdering innocent civilians?
LL> Nah. We had more important things to do.

You imbecile.

EH>>France was our ally as well, before AND after WWII. He might have
EH>>put on air that his intent was to establish a democracy, but his
EH>>actions were those of a tyrrant.

LL> France was not exactly helpful in rooting out the Nazis. About
LL> the only truly patriotic Frenchman that existed was Charles de Gaulle.
LL> Everybody else preferred not to rock the boat, knowing what would
LL> happen to them if they opposed Nazi presence. In fact, many of
LL> the French openly supported the Nazis. Including working in
LL> German factories, making munitions for the German military. And don't
LL> forget the Vichy government, which was so helpful to Adolf Hitler.

 >>GB>We backed Saddam, Ed, is he any more cuddly than Ho?

EH>>We did NOT back Saddam. We gave him intelligence only.

LL> As well as tons of WMD.

Oh, shut up, Lee. You've had this claim shoved up your ass so many times I've
lost count.

 >>GB>Ho started to allow/authorize his own people to be murdered in
 >>GB>"the cause", among a great many other evils.

EH>>Ho didn't have "his own people." He was a tyrrant and a dictator.
EH>>He lead by fear of death.

LL> Ho Chi Minh was a tryrant. But he was also patriotic to the
LL> Vietnamese people. Of course, like all tyrants, one had to stroke
LL> his ego in order to gain favors. Kind of like what one has to do
LL> in order to gain favors from our very own dictator.

Traitor.

 >>GB>But at one time, early on, it was different. Ho, at the time he
 >>GB>was dealing with Claire Chenault, fully expected the US to back a
 >>GB>democracy movement.

EH>>So, you are saying that since we turned him down he became a commie
 EH>>over night. ROFL!

LL> Ho Chi Minh sought to undermine U.S. resolve. And his ploy
 LL> worked.

Only because we had lily-livered cowards like you back here laying groundwork
for the North Vietnamese.

 >>GB>Then the Cold War set in.

EH>>Which had nothing to do with our decision to not back Ho.

LL> Actually, it did. Truman was the first president to send in U.S.
LL> advisors to Vietnam, a direct response to communist actions in
 LL> that area.

Wrong again. Eisenhower sent the first official advisors.

 >>GB>Things changed for everyone.

EH>>Uh huh. You can delude yourself that Ho was a pro-democracy "George
EH>>Washington of Vietnam, but it isn't based on the truth.

LL> Ho Chi Minh understood the value of propaganda. And he used it
LL> well. And wisely. To the benefit of his communist movement, of course.

That's the only thing you said that's not an outright lie.

John
