Ärende: Incompetent
===================
-=> Quoting Bob Sakowski to All <=-

BS> Is the boy king incompetent? Richard Reeves counts the ways.

... in his *imagination* ... heh heh heh ...

BS> THE REAL ISSUE: BUSH IS INCOMPETENT

The *real* "real* issue is this: Why don't the liberals just
fold their tents and sneak away into the night as their hero,
Osama bin Laden has done?

 BS> By Richard Reeves

BS> NEW YORK -- President Bush (news - web sites) is coming to town. You
BS> better watch out, you better not shout -- unless you're a certified
BS> delegate inside Madison Square Garden. With protesters somewhere out of
BS> sight, the Republican National Convention will be a celebration of the
BS> ideology, values and interests served by this second Bush presidency.

I've not heard of *any* "protesters" who have any real *reason*
to protest ...
                        ... [snip] ...

 BS> Richard Reeves

BS> Whether you agree or disagree with the words pouring from the podium
BS> over Americans who see reflections of themselves in George W. Bush, the
BS> real issue of this election will not be mentioned. The core issue is
BS> this: Our president is incompetent. He is not a good president.

The American people know the *contrary* is the truth -- in time
of great emergency George W. Bush has responded admirably!

BS> Let me count the ways:

BS> (1) He has divided the country; we are all part of a vicious little
BS> hissing match. We were united and humbled on Sept. 12, 2001. We are
BS> divided and humiliated now, telling lies about each other.

But the lies are being told by trash such as Michael Moore, with
his pseudo-documentary, "Fahrenheit 9/11" ... it is the
*liberals* to try to divide America ...

BS> (2) He has divided the world. "We are all Americans now," headlined Le
BS> Monde on that Sept. 12. Now there are days when it seems as if they
 BS> are all anti-Americans.

So the French oppose us? Big deal! Just wait until Germany
invades them again, they'll look upon us as their great friend
... heh heh heh ... you can *always* rely on the French -- when
they need help ...

BS> (3) He is leaving no child or grandchild without debt. He has taken
BS> the government from surplus into deficit in the name of national
BS> security and increased private investment. We can pay the debt in two
BS> ways: with more government revenues (taxation) or by borrowing --
BS> against the sweat and income of new generations. The president has
 BS> chosen to borrow.

Which is the way to go. After all, WWII was won using such a
technique ...

BS> (4) He campaigns as a champion of smaller government, but is greatly
BS> increasing the size and role of government. Ideological conservatism,
BS> it turns out, costs just as much or more than ideological liberalism.
BS> Conservative and liberal politicians are both for increasing the reach
BS> and power of government. The difference between them is which parts and
BS> functions of the state are to be empowered and financed. The choice is
BS> between military measures and order, or more redistribution of income.
 BS> Money is power.

And the author thinks *this* is a strong argument against George
W. Bush?!??!

BS> (5) He is diminishing the military of which he is so proud now as
BS> commander in chief. The invasion and occupation of Iraq (news - web
BS> sites) have obviously not worked out the way he imagined -- naked
BS> torture was not the goal. But the far greater problem for the future is
BS> that our proud commander has revealed the hollowness behind the
BS> unilateral superpower. From the top down, we have not been able to win
BS> Iraq, much less the world. And going into Iraq has compromised or
BS> crippled the war on terror he declared himself.

The War in Iraq was won with amazing swiftness -- so swift in
fact, that the end result was more chaotic than was expected.
Now that power has been turned over to the Iraqis, though, things
are beginning to settle down.

BS> (6) He is diminishing scientific progress, the great engine of the
BS> 20th century. Only the truly ignorant can believe that the proper role
BS> of government is to hinder medical research and environmental study in
 BS> the name of God.

Huh? Surely the absence of federal money to support killing of
the unborn is not what the author protests. Or *is* it?

BS> (7) He is diminishing the Constitution of the United States. Cheesy
BS> tricks like amending the great text of freedom to attack homosexuality
BS> can be dismissed as wedge politics. But it is worse to preach against
BS> an activist judiciary while appointing more activist judges who happen
BS> to hold different beliefs, particularly the idea that civil liberties
BS> are the enemies of patriotism, security and freedom itself.

This is utter *fantasy* on the part of the author ...

BS> (8) He has surrounded himself with other incompetents. The secretary
BS> of state is presiding over the rape of diplomacy and its alliances. The
BS> secretary of defense has sent our young men and women into situations
BS> they were never meant or trained to handle, and now they are being
BS> ordered into battle by an appointed minister in a faraway land. The
BS> national security adviser does not seem to know that her job
BS> description includes coordinating defense and diplomacy. And then there
BS> was our $340,000-a-month local hire, Ahmed Chalabi, sitting in the
 BS> gallery of our House.

"Incompetents"? Colin Powell and Don Rumsfeld? Sheeeeesh!
What an imagination Reeves has! As for Chalabi, his situation is
still unclear ...

BS> (9) He has been unable or unwilling to deal with declining employment
BS> and the rising medical costs of becoming an older nation.

Employment is increasing at a reasonable rate. After all George
W. Bush inherited a recession from Bill Clinton and has succeeded
in bringing prosperity back to us.

BS> (10) He is, as if by design, destroying the credibility of the United
BS> States as a force for peace in the world -- an honest broker --
BS> particularly in the Middle East.

Establishing democracy in Iraq is *not* a good thing for the
Middle East????

BS> The list is longer, miscalculation after miscalculation. President
BS> Bush has not been able to function effectively at this pay grade. He
BS> may mean well, but this has been a difficult time, and he is in over
BS> his head. We and our kids will pay the price for his blundering,
BS> blunderbuss adventure in Washington. He has been tested in a difficult
BS> time -- and, unhappily for all of us and the world, he has not been up
 BS> to the job.

As everyone knows, George W. Bush has done a remarkably good job
as president. The American people will emphasize this in
November.

... Egotism: Doing a crossword puzzle with a pen.
