A tearline is a set of 3 "-"  like so --- with the first "-" in column one.

Do you want me to embarass you by pulling out the FTSC specifications on you?

A tearline signifies the end of the message body, that is why I dont prepend my
signature line with one, I instead use the "=" sign, which has no significance
in message control characters.

That is a tearline, they dont have to be followed by the editor ID, they can be
followed by anything, blank space, taglines, your moms apple pie recipe,
whatever. They are actually optional but there is no reason for you to be
adding one in, and if you do, it should at the base of the message. I provide a
URL to the FTSC web site pointing to the correct document, maybe you can call
Bob HArtman, the author of that document a liar??

As I have a true Fido complaint mail editor, no where is your tearline you talk
about, my editor is set to quote everything, msgid and all.

Since you are using Docs Online editor, what editor ID?

Ideally you should be using three dots to signify a tagline and there is no
reason for you to be manually typing in a tearline, do you know why you are?
