Ärende: Truth or consequences
=============================
->  From Capitol Hill Blue
->
-> The Rant
-> Americans no longer buy Bush's lies
-> By DOUG THOMPSON
-> Dec 2, 2005, 07:32
->
Drst! Being 476 years behind in my reading, I hate usually
skip post that contain other writing...but in your case... :-)

Prepost scriptum: I apologizr for spelling error, I'M not going to go
through
all this stuff I've written :-)

==========================

-> ...American people may be smarter than originally thought.

->
-> The polls show rapidly increasing numbers of Americans have had it with
-> Bush’s lies, fantasies and illusions about his invasion of a country
that
-> posed no immediate threat to our way of life.
->
-> And Democrats can’t wait to take advantage of Bush’s latest lame attempt
to
-> resell a losing war.
->
I with they would STOP carping and start laying our plans to extricate
ourszelves from this dangerous mess.. Saying 'you are doing it wrong' is
not exactly insightful critisism. (But it's a start...:-)

-> “The speech by the President was nothing more than political rhetoric
meant
-> to halt his free falling poll numbers...

Yep. But Democrats should always keep in mind that polling numbers arev ot
voting numbers, and theres a long way to go and the Democrats do not have
a Carl Rove (who has a fascinating history in Texas)

 Our troops and their family and
-> loved ones at home deserve more than politics as usual from the
President,ö.

I think I was treated far better as a Korean vet...
(hospital time, a no down payment new home, 2 more yrs of college
(I'm educateD FAR beyond my intelligence. :-)

->... : J. Kucinich: “The President must be honest with the American
people.
(My edit)

Y'know, this is an important point. Plato, Strauss, and Wolfowitz
(& Perle et al) believe exactly the opposite.

The "Noble lie" MUST be utilized to 'keep good order.
We are properly shocked when we find out, of course,
but every President I can think of find it 'necessary'

Worth thinking about. Plato was no dummy. Invented the word
democracy, thought was mob-rul rather than voting rights...

Things
-> are going badly in Iraq, and our presence as an occupying force is
-> counterproductive.ö
->
Yep damned if we do damned if we don't:

The Law of Unintended Consequences.
Others: Getting Married
Threatening to Quit
Wondering if the coil is hot
I'm sure there are others :-)

-> A long-time would seem to be at least the next three years,...

Like the poor, terrorist will always be with us.:-|

Always. Part of the problem (as always) is our inability to listen to them,
analyse the problem, and see if there is some alternative to
just picking them off forever with hatred rising on both sides.

(I sound like an old man. Oops. I AM an old man :-)

->...which is how
-> much longer the nation must endure the Dubya’s botched Presidency.
->
He's got Rove, he will soon awaken to the need to clear out the group
and listen to those who are 'against him'.
He's got three years, to learn about the enviornment, the economy,
competition in the world, China as a major power, jobs, a secular state,
border security....

He has three years. Democrats are going to have the above dumped on their
lap, and there are few signs that they are thinking about it much...:-(

-> Pennsylvania Rep. John Murtha, the decorated Marine who stirred the pot
by
-> calling for an immediate pullout of troops from Iraq...

He did NOT!

He said he was talking in terms of six months, with a PLAN.
He didn't make this up he really knows what the top brass
really think. That's what REALLY pissed off the White Hourse: that the top
brass talked to him...

-> ...predicts...most of the troops will be home by next year because they
are
-> “broken, worn outö and “living hand-to-mouth.ö
->
It not if anymore its a matter of when. Then the civil war will
continue in ernest (With American training and quipment, the Iraqi Army
will self destruct, (One Iraqi Commander said he 'didn't trust 60% of his
men...')

-> Murtha voted to support the war but now admits he was wrong.
->
Me, too. :-|

Powell at the UN convinced me.

-> “I admit I made a mistake when I voted for war,ö he says. “I'm looking
at
-> the future of the United States military.ö
->
What would it be if Presidnt Bush asked Congress for a declaration of war
...and immediatly imposed the draft...(You can train a draftee in six
weeks
give him a skill in twelve more...and we could have...hell, as
many troops as North Korea!

We could institute Ultamate Rule in Traq...AND claim the oil)
proclaim it as the 51st state....make English the official language...
open schools to teach 'em how to become cotizens...(snap!) Ok,
I'm awake now...

->
-> “There seems to be a divide between those voters who believe G.W. Bush
-> cannot tell the truth and those who believe he is the messiah and can't
-> tell a lie,ö says Sam Fuller of Chambersburg, PA....

I diagree. I think Bush was been misled but honistly believes
in what is not true.

-> Lemmmings... an apt description of the FIDOnet Politics 5-H Bush Booklicker
Brigade.
->
No, I think Advocate that take a Republican stance, resulting from a
distaste
for taxation in general and that Democrats are "Tax and Tax, Spend and
Spend"...
...to whom the "Military Complex" that Eisenhower warned against, seems
like a good idea. The thought of Empire dosen't taste bad...

We live in interesting times.

Het, its good to be old and retired, safely ensconsed permanently
in the most beautiful city on the planet!

Cheers...
