============================
Hello Bob,

>TR>The alternatives were Hubert Humphrey and George Mcgovern,
>TR>respectively. Both of whom were pretty much clueless.

BS>Humphrey was a good man and an idealist, I thought we needed a SOB at the
BS>time, hence my vote for Nixon.

You should have voted for George Wallace. With Curtis LeMay as veep.
Them two nitwits would have set this country straight in no time.

BS>McGovern was a brave man and a patriot. A bomber pilot over Europe in WW2
BS>proved he had the courage to do what needed to be done, yet I couldn't vote
BS>for him, given his pacifist beliefs. Don't get me wrong, if anyone had a
BS>right to be a pacifist, McGovern did but at that point in our history, I
BS>couldn't see constantly turning the other cheek as a viable national
BS>foriegn policy.

McGovern was no pacifist. This country spends far more than is
necessary on defense. The present budget calls for $450 billion in
defense spending, not including the costs of Iraq and Afghanistan.
We have over fifty percent of the world's armaments, the country
in second place has only five percent. McGovern merely called for
a reduction in unnecessary defense spending, not a reduction in
defense preparedness and readiness.

>TR>I voted for Jimmy Carter.....how anyone could have
>TR>voted for Gerald Ford is a mystery.

BS>Indeed. Ford, also a good man, a very good man who, unfortunately was out
BS>of his depth in the White House.

The Helsinki Accords was a stroke of genius, opening the crack in
the Iron Curtain, making it possible for the people of Eastern Europe,
as well as the fifteen Republics that comprised the late U.S.S.R. to
gain their freedom.

>TR>Jimmy Carter's four years in the White House showed me
>TR>that I was not really a democrat at all. In fact, Jimmy
>TR>Carter's silliness made me take a good look at
>TR>the democrat candidates I had been voting for, and I
>TR>realized they were mostly bullshit. I dropped my affiliation
>TR>with the democrat party and re-registered
>TR>republican.

BS>Jimmy Carter's biggest problem is that by never learning to delegate
BS>authority, he micromanaged everything which led to virtually nothing
BS>getting accomplished.

Jimmy Carter's biggest problem was not getting along with the
Congress. However, Carter was extremely effective in getting his
preferred legislation passed by the Congress. He also kept us
out of war, where making war would have been so easy, especially
during the hostage crisis in Iran.

BS>I voted for Reagan twice, the second time knowing that unlike Carter who
BS>had to have his hands on everything, he never wanted to have his hands on
BS>anything. His was the first of what I call, "A Sgt. Schultz" Presidency.

Ronald Reagan was a genuine phony who honestly believed he was sincere.
He did not accomplish much of anything. But at least he kept us out of
war. Even though we did lose a few hundred Marines in Beirut.

BS>In 1992 I voted for Ross even though I knew he wouldn't carry the day. I
BS>took a break in 1996 and did not vote for President/VP but I held my nose
BS>and voted Gore in 2000 then did the same in 2004 voting for Kerry.

It's too bad your vote didn't count in 2000. And probably not
in 2004. Maybe in 2008 your vote will be counted. But only if
you vote Republican.

>TR>The country is fucked up. It gets more and more fucked up
>TR>as each year goes by.

BS>And further away from the dream the Founders put forth in Philadelphia in
BS>1787.

What dream was that? The Articles of Confederation was a flop.
Instead of fixing it, as they were assigned to do, they decided
to scrap the whole thing.

>TR>I think my biggest regret is that, by the time the entire
>TR>country comes to its senses, and takes back our Republic
>TR>from these stupid-assed politicians, run the illegal aliens
>TR>who are invading our country in droves out of here, and
>TR>re-establish the Republic our Founding Fathers intended
>TR>for us to have,

BS>I would run the politicians who would be kings out first, then tackle the
BS>problem of illegals. Of course, if businesses and people didn't hire
BS>illegals then it is unlikely they would come here in the numbers they do.
BS>Of course, then we would have great difficulty providing produce, housing,
BS>etc., sectors where many illegals find work.

Open borders would be better. That way, there would be no illegals.

>TR>I might be too old to take part in the shooting.

BS>I suspect that while I'm not too old yet and look pretty good for my age
BS>(on the outside at least), the inside is another story. As long as I have
BS>a good supply of my meds, most importantly my inhalers (COPD is a bitch), I
BS>would take part old or not.

I'd like to see an additional Bill of Rights be passed. One that
addresses modern issues, and guarantees individual freedoms.

BS>The funny part is that those to whom I refer as the 5-H Bush Bootlicker
BS>Brigade here would be on the other side, unfortunately. Such is how badly
BS>they have lost their way.

It's all transitory. Today we have George W. Bush. Tomorrow we have
Hillary Clinton. And then we will have the daughters of GWB. And then
we will have the daughter of Bill and Hillary. And then we will have
some other Bush. And then some other Clinton. So it goes.

BS>Hope you have a prosperous new year Tim, in good health and good spirits.

Happy birthday, Bob.
