Not at all.  In fact, the American people recognize Carter
as one of the greatest presidents in U.S. history, if not the
greatest.  Here is a poll conducted by Zogby International
showing how GWB would have fared against former presidents -

GWB would lose to every president since Carter -

GWB            44%
Clinton        46%

GWB            34%
Bush41         41%

GWB            20%
Reagan         59%

GWB            42%
Carter         50%

GWB            48%
Kerry          47%

Note that Kerry was the Democratic nominee for president in 2004,
not a president or former president.  And yet GWB polled a mere one
percentage point better than Kerry.  Also note that Carter polled
much better than Clinton against GWB.  At the time the poll was
taken, GWB's job approval rating was polled at 41%.  Today, GWB's
job rating is much lower.  Hell, even Nixon would beat GWB today.

If the presidential election were held today, Kerry would easily
trounce GWB.  So would just about any other Democrat.  The mistake
the Democrats made in 2004 is that they should have nominated
Carter.

The Zogby poll was conducted from September 6 to 7, 2005.
