Likely correct, especially at the current prices.  
For most of the 90s the breakeven point on the oil 
we produced was something like $12-15/BBL, which 
included the lifting cost and intangibles.  This 
was in Kansas and the wells were typically in the 
3500-5000' depth range.

One must also remember that the operator or producer 
only recieves 7/8ths of the sale with the owner 
of the mineral rights getting the remaining 1/8th. 
Well in Kansas anyway.  Additionally any overrides 
on the lease production come out of the operator's 
7/8th.

Indeed and the profits are further enhanced by the 
fact that in Kansas, for example, even though the 
oil produced was identical in gravity as the oil 
on which the posted price was based (light, sweet crude) 
we recieved as much as $3+ less per BBL.

environmental regulations?

What did you think of Der Monkey's speech last night? 
It wasn't half bad but I suspect he did little more 
than disappoint those he was trying to placate 
(his so-called base) and alienate those whom he 
needs in the congress to enact his plan.  I thought 
the schtick about moving the NG to the border was rich.  
Let's see that's 6000 troops for 2000 miles.  
Three shifts work out to 1 man per 1 mile.

Some support.  Some lock down.  Mostly bullshit for
the mouthbreathers on the right, you know, his base.

Which is why John Hull will likely be posting that 
Der Monkeyt had another FDR or Churchill moment. 
Which is rich for we all know that on his best day, 
Der Monkey couldn't carry their shorts.
