No tyrant/dictator/terrorist leader ever puts himself in harm's way when he can
coerce/brainwash/intimidate some idiot to do it for him.

Nobody said you should. But there is a difference between proper dissent and
publicly attacking and interfering with our leaders, both civilian and
military, which has the effect of giving aid and comfort to the enemy. It
emboldens them, and stiffens their resolve to hold out for just a while longer
because they know that eventually we will quit and go home. In addition, you
persist in viewing this as if it were a traditional military war between
nations. It isn't, and never was. This is a guerrila war between terrorists in
many different countries and us.

No, we didn't start it. Osama bin Laden started it, long before 9/11. 9/11,
however, happened on the watch of someone who had the stones to do something
about it. And we will finish it, in spite of the ones who want us to turn tail
and run.

GB>> If we flee, the terrorists will declare a victory and we will be

AH> Which is what Hamas, et al claim when Israel withdrew from Gaza, and

AH> say the terrorists win if we leave Iraq support Israel's withdrawals.

You can't see that there is a totally different dynamic at work in the
situation in Israel? Israel had no choice but to vacate those areas. The only
way for them to put the Palestinians in a position to fish or cut bait was to
force them to function as a nation. Now, if Hamas or whoever is in charge
can't control their people and the attacks on Israel continue, the Israelis
will have an legitimate ironclad reason to retake those areas and finish the
job.

AH> Yes. Saddam kept Iraq under control because he was ruthless. Nobody
 AH> denies that.

GB>> The man who trades freedom for security does not deserve nor will
 GB>> he ever receive either.

 GB>> Who said that?

AH> Someone who would be shocked at the actions of our government today, and
AH> the people's acceptance of it. Benjamin Franklin. And it's "liberty,"
AH> not "freedom," in his quote. *adh*

You really should read more about Doctor Franklin. What's going on today
wouldn't surprise him at all. He thoroughly understood the political ins and
outs of dealing with other governments, as well as our own. Don't forget he
played the French (and the Brits) like a fiddle during the Revolutionary War.
He was considered a dangerous man to cross. He was also a rake of world class
renown, among other things.
