You blow whichever way the wind blows.  That's the big problem with no having
any party affiliation.  In order to field an agenda that you can apply to
problems you have to have a party organization behind you. Individual
politicians rarely, if ever, have enough clout to get things done on their own.
 But that's the sort of thing you saddle everybody with when you vote for the
individual without regard to party.

It doesn't matter a tinker's damn how good the guy is.  If he's running as a
Democrat that says something right off the top.  When push comes to shove, he
supports the Democratic platform, and he is beholden to the Democratic party
for election support and money.  He will quickly find as well, that bucking the
party line on the issues will get him nowhere fast.  I have a friend here who
is running for county board.  I think she would do a great job, but she's
running as a Democrat.  I explained to her just what I said to you above, and
the light suddenly went on over her head.  Now, its too late to back out. 
She's feisty, and will still up a lot of controversy on the Board, but in the
end, they'll shut her down like yesterday's news when she starts to annoy them.

Grow some cajones, Gary, commit to a party.  That's how the system is set up,
and how it has worked for the last two hundred twenty five years plus.
