If you ever find yourself in San Diego for a few days don't stay at the
Marriott at the Embarcadero (it's on filled land). As to tunnels, not being an
engineer I was sure that the tunnel (tube really) that the BART train passes
through to get from Oakland to San Francisco would be demolished if a big one
hit. It rode out the 1989 quake easily.
