Funny, I was talking the other day to a LtCmdr at Balboa who was telling me
about how she and her active duty husband had to file deployment "wills" (I
can't remember the real name for this document) on who takes care of their two
children if they're both deployed at the same time. I find it ridiculous that
this document is only required by the Navy (the LtCmdr told me that all married
active duty personnel with children are required by the Navy and thus also for
the Marine Corps) and that this particular couple that Janis refers to wasn't.
Odd how Janis neglected to give a cite for this supposedly
murdered-by-the-boyfriend baby. It's hardly the fault of the government or any
branch there of that the mother chose an obviously unsuitable guardian for her
child. If Janis knew anything at all about the military she'd know that GIs and
Sailors don't get to choose where they get stationed or whether or not they go
into dangerous situations. Apparently Janis is ignorant of the fact that we
have an all *VOLUNTEER* military - everybody in it is there by choice - there's
no draft and every single person who ever volunteered for military service knew
there was a chance they might get shot at, have missiles and other kinds of
bombs going off around or on them and chose to join anyway. On this day when we
remember fondly and with reverence those men (and women more and more every
day) who have died for and served us without ever knowing the vast majority of
us, that rather than trying to find any possible reason to insult this
administration Janis might actually sit down and think of all those people who
have gone before her and try and dig up a little bit of gratitude that there
were, are and always will be people like them to make her life more free and
safe, but I won't hold my breath waiting for that to happen.

BTW; to those of you who have served thank you from the bottom of my heart for
serving the country, you are such special people and I hope you've had a nice
memorial day.
