=====================
Hey, FRANK.

EC>>>> ST>>> I note that you and your buddies haven't been raving about the
 EC>>>> ST>>> recent debate. Hardly a peep.

EC>>>> FS>> Peep: The debate was expected, by the Kerry camp, to knock
EC>>>> FS>> George W. Bush out of the race. It failed since the debate was
 EC>>>> FS>> a tie.

EC>>>> JH> They can claim victory all day long and all through the night if
EC>>>> JH> they want to, but it hasn't changed a damn thing in the polls.
EC>>>> JH> Bush is still ahead by an average of 5 points as of this
 EC>>>> JH> evening's news.

EC>>>> My attitude is "who cares what John Kerry takes as his position at
EC>>>> the debate, it will be the opposite tomorrow."

JB>>> Or, for those paying close attention, before the debate is even
 JB>>> over.

EC>>> Exactly. It's why I didn't even watch the debate.

FS>> No need for you to watch any of the debates, Ed. I'll keep you
 FS>> informed:

FS>> 1st Debate: Tie ... Kerry is known as a skilled debater ...
FS>> however, since he clearly did not *beat* George W. Bush,
FS>> in effect he *lost* ... (proper interpretation of political
FS>> debates is not for the amateur) ...

FS>> Veep Debate: Cheney won easily ... don't applaud as I feel a bit
FS>> sorry for Edwards. He seemed like the political puppy he is,
FS>> yapping at Cheney's heels but never landing a tooth ...

 FS>> Saturday, Ed, I'll summarize Friday's up-coming debate. I could
FS>> predict the outcome but that would be pointless ... patience ...

EC>> Okay. My wife is visiting Washington, DC for 10 days and we talk two
EC>> or three times a day. Just today I told her that I was relying on
EC>> your report in order to gain the best understanding possible. I'll
EC>> be waiting for your take.

FS> Very briefly here's how it went Friday night:

FS> How shall I put this so there can be no mistake? OK ... here it
 FS> is ... George W. Bush, a.k.a. Dubya cleaned Kerry's clock. Dubya
FS> ate his lunch. Bush turned Kerry every way but loose ... that
FS> should explain it in the argot of the streets.

FS> As for you, Ed, Dubya beat Kerry handily. At no time was the
FS> debate ever close, neglecting the fine handshake Kerry gave
FS> Bush at the beginning of the debate. Kerry did an excellent
FS> job at that task. Kerry's handshake was neither too firm nor
FS> too limp. From that point on, however, Kerry seemed to sink
FS> deeper and deeper into mental quicksand.

FS> During the debate itself Kerry seemed to be thinking of something
FS> else -- perhaps longing to return to his home on the Planet Mars
FS> (Or is it Jupiter?). In any event, as Kerry stumbled for words
FS> the camera showed George W. Bush, with a confident smile while he
FS> watched Kerry's futile attempts to paint him (Dubya) as anything
FS> but heroic. GWB, of course, answered all questions with both
FS> grace as well as a command of the English language which would
FS> have made Winston Churchill green with envy (to coin a cliche).

FS> The camera panned the faces of his questioners as Dubya spoke.
FS> One could almost *sense* the admiration on the face of each
 FS> supplicant.

FS> This was quite a contrast to the puzzlement on the faces of
FS> Kerry's questioners as they struggled to understand what, if
FS> anything, was his point. One questioner -- caught only for a
FS> microsecond by the camera -- actually resumed reading his
FS> newspaper as Kerry tried first to *understand* the question
 FS> then to answer it.

FS> The *real* puzzle is this: How did the audience manage to hold
FS> back its applause after each of Dubya's well-thought-out
FS> responses? They showed *amazing* self-control. Also why didn't
FS> Kerry take his final summary to acknowledge defeat and drop out
FS> of the presidential race at that time? Those are real conundrums
 FS> (or is that "conundra"?)

FS> So that's it, Ed. I suppose by now you've seen the equivalent of
FS> what I've written on the front page of the New York Times. I
FS> don't expect there to *be* a *third* debate so this should end
 FS> it.

FS> BRIEF SUMMARY: George W. Bush won the debate. John Kerry lost
 FS> the debate.

Thank you so much. I shall hang my hat on your report then. It is a
pleasure to read your words knowing that you are, unlike the mainstream
media, honest and truthful and unbiased and so faithful that you make Lassie
look like a treasonous cur.

I should add that it saves me a lot of time to simply get your consise
report and I spent my time watching a movie.
