Well said.  It seems to be forgotten that self-esteem is more an 
effect than a cause.  That is, self-esteem doesn't cause a person 
to succeed at something nearly as much as success creates 
self-esteem.  And the "success" needn't involve something of 
monumental importance.  For a six-year-old kid, for example, 
success can involve something as simple as getting his homework 
completed with no urging or aid from his parents.
