I read this when I got it by email. Today they printed the entire transcript of
UBL's taped rant. It rambles and loses focus at times. UBL has been relegated
to whining for attention.

 EC> =====================================
EC> Progressive Columnist: 'Bin Laden's Tape is a Tape of Capitulation and
 EC> Bankruptcy'
 EC>
EC> Progressive columnist Dr. Mamoun Fandy wrote an article in the Egyptian
EC> daily Al-Ahram titled 'Bin Laden Votes for John Kerry: A Tape of
 EC> Admission,
EC> Voting and Capitulation.' The following are excerpts from the article:
 EC>
EC> 'Osama Bin Laden Announced his Vote for John Kerry'
 EC>
EC> "The new phenomenon in the U.S. elections is that non-Americans are
 EC> voting
EC> in the elections in the hope of changing America's course. [ U.N.
EC> Secretary-General] Kofi Annan, for example, voted for [Senator] John
 EC> Kerry
EC> when he criticized [President] Bush's policy in Iraq and described the
EC> invasion of Iraq as an illegal action. On the other hand, Iraqi Prime
EC> Minister Ayad Allawi voted for Bush in his recent visit to the U.S. when
 EC> he
EC> thanked the U.S. and its president in [his address] to the Congress and
 EC> in
EC> the White House. Recently, Osama bin Laden announced his vote for John
 EC> Kerry
EC> in his latest tape, which was presented to us by the political porn
 EC> channel
 EC> [i.e. Al-Jazeera].
 EC>
EC> "The most important thing in the tape is his sincere admission that he
 EC> is
EC> the man who had planned the September 11 attacks. He specified the
 EC> motives
EC> that justified this operation, which began to ferment in his mind since
 EC> Israel's invasion of Lebanon in 1982:
 EC>
EC> "The main point in this case is that Osama himself admitted to carrying
 EC> out
EC> the operation which his friends and disciples were denying for a long
 EC> time.
EC> And here we have evidence, in sound and image, that the man [i.e. bin
 EC> Laden]
EC> is the primary [party] responsible for the events of September 11 and
 EC> that
EC> neither the Mossad nor the CIA were behind the [events], as the
 EC> low-ranking
EC> [Arab] commentators have claimed. Nor the Serbs, as the senior political
 EC> commentators have claimed."
 EC>
EC> 'Bin Laden Does Not Refer at All to Jihad in This Tape'
 EC>
EC> "The second point is that the tape is one of capitulation and
 EC> bankruptcy,
EC> and not one of threat and warning, since bin Laden appears in regular
 EC> robes
EC> and not in a military uniform with a rifle on his side. Bin Laden has
EC> relinquished his military [character] and his arms. This, of course, is
EC> intentional on the part of the public relations administration within
 EC> Al-Qa'ida and outside it.
 EC>
EC> "In addition, bin Laden does not refer at all to Jihad in this tape.
 EC> There
EC> was no [mention] of Hadiths or of Koranic verses, and not even a mention
 EC> of
EC> the month of Ramadan, which we [mark] today. The tape is devoid of
 EC> religious
EC> manifestations and is devoid of any [mention] of the conflict between
 EC> East
EC> and West, or [the war of] the Mujahideen against the infidel Crusaders,
 EC> whether Christians or Jews.
 EC>
EC> "Bin Laden's speech was restricted to technical issues of U.S. foreign
EC> policy and its relations with the Middle East. In addition, it was
EC> restricted to an attempt to influence the voters in every [U.S.] state,
 EC> with
EC> [bin Laden] stating that [each] state is responsible for its own
 EC> security by
EC> means of its vote - and bin Laden's lack of understanding of the
 EC> internal
EC> situation in the U.S. is [yet another] issue, which I will not elaborate
 EC> on
 EC> here."
 EC>
EC> 'This Tape Resembles the Announcements of Commercial Companies Which are
 EC> Going Out of Business'
 EC>
EC> "The tape tells George Bush: 'Leave us alone, and we will leave you
 EC> alone.'
EC> It is obvious, from both the language and the body language, that this
 EC> is a
EC> speech of a man who is capitulating, withdrawing, or trying to 'change
 EC> his
EC> spots' from a Jihad fighter to a politician. This tape resembles the
EC> announcements of commercial companies which are going out of business.
 EC>
EC> "Bin Laden gave justifications for the events of September 11, and
 EC> admitted
EC> responsibility for them, and here he is announcing that he votes for
 EC> John
EC> Kerry in the elections. His speech contained expressions borrowed from
 EC> the
EC> Democratic Convention or from Kerry's speeches, such as the story of
 EC> George
EC> Bush telling a girl in Florida a tale about a goat. This expression
 EC> appeared
EC> frequently in John Kerry's speeches, and it is obvious that whoever
 EC> wrote
EC> bin Laden's speeches has democratic leanings, or at the very least that
 EC> he
EC> follows John Kerry's speeches with interest. Moreover, bin Laden
 EC> appeared in
EC> the tape as if he were advisor to Secretary of Homeland Security Tom
 EC> Ridge,
EC> for he provided hints, free-of-charge, about the way to [better]
 EC> preserve
 EC> U.S. security.
 EC>
EC> "The outcome of the election we will know today or tomorrow, but the
 EC> tape
EC> will remain a tape of admission, voting, and capitulation."
 EC>
 EC>
 EC>
 EC>
 EC>
 EC> Al-Ahram (Egypt), November 2, 2004.
