I give 'em *all* a chance ... it's just when I seen (and *hear*) 
those screeching tires I hesitate ... "should I switch or not?"

 JH> plotting, have generally older and more seasoned actors, but are still
 JH> plenty full of action. That would include movies like the recent remake

Generally those are the movies I *do* watch.  One group of movies 
I've always liked are the so-called spaghetti westerns which have 
a lot of action and don't require much thought to enjoy.

 FS> movie which involves a reasonable amount of thought ... no 
 FS> rapidly accelerating cars with screeching tires ... no car chases 
 FS> ... logical activities ... great!

 JH> I, too, wish they would make more of the old standards.  The great
 JH> stuff of the 40's and 50's.  The great westerns, film noir, war movies,
 JH> etc.  Kostner made the superb homage to the great westerns last year
 JH> with "Open Range" and Gibson did "We Were Soldiers" but there is a big
 JH> hole that needs something like "Casablanca" or "The Big Sleep" or "The
 JH> Maltese Falcon."  

One of my favorites, which I've seen several times is "High Noon"
