I fought against the North Vietnamese, and had one little shooting
scrape with the North Koreans.  But I have extensive experience in the
Middle East.

Nothing.

Swedish troops didn't rush to the defense of Norway when she was
attacked by Germany.

Swedish troops didn't land in Normandy, or at Inchon.

Swedish engineers didn't battle a rising river to get into the Former
Yugoslavia to stop ethnic cleansing.

Sweden sits around and drinks coffee while other nations do the real
work.

You fail to see a lot of things, primarily because you are unable to
make sense of the world through the basis of experience.

It would be better if "we" were not such know-it-alls and were willing
to discuss matters objectively, without prejudice.

And you know that, how?

In combat, you act on what evidence you have in front of you.  And this
Marine saw what appeared to be a man faking death.  Given that other
Marines had been killed by people doing exactly that -- and that he had
a very limited time to save his own life, he acted.

No, I know that men in combat must make split-second decisions.

I know the enemy has a policy of committing war crimes, including
treacherously asking for quarter (faking surrender), boobytrapping
corpses, and committing suicide attacks -- often by wounded men who call
out for a doctor, then detonate a bomb or grenade to kill those who come
to aid them.

I am a man who has been there and done that, as opposed to one
who only imagines what combat is like, and wants to preach to others
about it.
