Actually I served in the Army with a Norwegian immigrant who then 
lived in Minnesota.  He told me about lutefisk which was 
described as a very fine dish.  Fortunately he never offered me 
any and I was familiar with the stuff from having heard it from 
others ... heh heh heh ...

Yes, but most people in the U.S. don't realize Detroit is *north* 
of Canada ... hence I often describe my current home (north of 
Detroit) that way.  People think I live within the Arctic 
circle.

Sounds like an interesting tourist attraction, though only once 
each year.  Niagara falls seems to be available *all* year ...

As a kid I was reading an encyclopedia in which a canal lock was 
described with sketches showing it's mechanical operation.  I was 
enthralled -- the beauty of being able to raise boats without 
even needing pumps really appealed to me.  Some ancient genius 
dreamed that up -- probably in Ancient Egypt.
