Okay, Lee... now you know damn well that there's more than that in the
military.  Actually, I didn't fix tanks at all.  My official MOS was 13B-a
105mm self-propelled howitzer cannon crewmember.  I was also qualified for
13M-a Multiple Launch Rocket System crewmember, but due to clearance problems,
I was made a Bravo.

Here's a list of some of the jobs I held while a 13B:

- 4th Infantry Division: Division Transportation Office (DTO): I was a
transportation movement coordinator (88N).  I was in charge of coordinating
heavy equipment movement across Fort Hood with 13th COSCOM.  I received and
processed movement requests and in return, produced movement orders for
13COSCOM to move tanks and other heavy equipment across post.  I was a Private
First Class (E-3) doing a Captain's (O-3) job.  I received many accolades for
my work during Task Force XXI's movement to and from Fort Irwin, California.  I
was solely responsible for tracking over 1000 vehicles via air, ground and sea
freight movement.

- 4th Infantry Division: DIVARTY (Division Artillery): I was given special
orders to be the battalion automations specialist.  I was personally
responsible for over 300 computers, both desktops and laptops.  I had to do a
monthly security audit on every single computer to make sure there wasn't
anything hiding in them that shouldn't be.  I also trained NCOs and COs on the
use of Windows 3.11, Windows 95 and NT 3.51/4.0, as well as proprietary and
classified software such as ULLS (a supply requisition software).  I performed
minor maintenance, as well as troubleshooting.  If there was a problem, I
physically took the computers to the next higher level command and had them
fixed.

- 3rd Battalion, 16th Field Artillery, 4th Infantry Division, HHB: I was a
training room clerk.  I took care of everyone's promotional records, service
records, orders (incoming, outgoing and others), PT records, PT tests,
urineanalysis test results and many many other duties.

- Same unit: I was a supply clerk.  I think you can figure out what I did with
that... but also when in the field, I delivered hot chow to the whole damn
unit-all 300+ of us.

- Same unit: I was a PLL (motorpool) clerk.  I made sure that everyone who was
assigned a vehicle performed their PMCS (Preventive Maintenance Checks and
Services) weekly, ordered parts, assisted in moving heavy equipment, cleaning
the motorpool and ensuring that people didn't kill themselves around in
there...

- Same unit: I was the NBC (Nuclear, Biological and Chemical) officer.  I was
responsible for the entire unit's NBC training, as well as making sure every
soldier had a gas mask and protective gear.  I also maintained all of the
unit's NBC detection equipment, performed bi-weekly training for all the
batteries in rotation...

There's more, but I think you get the picture.  Now, will you please consider
me more than a tank jockey?  My military training has helped me out
tremendously in the civilian world, so I do not understand where your inane
statement came from.  It's like Bjorn telling me that after eight years in the
military I knew nothing about it.

Please don't insult my intelligence nor my service to my country by saying all
I can do is fix tanks.  I wouldn't touch a tank if you paid me.  I got to see
someone run over at 40MPH by a 60-ton Abrams M1.  Believe me, until you get to
see someone's head explode because of sheer force on the skull and their brain
pop out at about 40MPH, you just couldn't understand. :)
