3.  JFK and LBJ

Most people think of shining cities on the hill, and unlimited potential cut
down before its time.  People even refer to the John F. Kennedy presidency as
"Camelot."  It was anything but.  John Kennedy was a womanizer of legendary
prowess, made deals with the Mafia, and got a Pulitzer under circumstances just
short of plagiarism.  Most of the articles and other work that came out under
his name were actually written by speechwriter Ted Sorenson, including his
Pulitzer-winning book "Profiles in Courage."  Biographer Thomas Reeves remarked
that "no national figure had ever so consistently and unashamedly used others
to manufacture a personal reputation as a great thinker and scholar."

Kennedy's rise in politics, once touted as the rise of a great statesman, was
instead the result of Mafia influence and vote fraud.  His father, Joe Kennedy,
shelled out huge amounts of cash from the family fortune (most of which came
from running contraband liquor during Prohibition) to  grease the skids for
JFK.  Sam Giancana, the capo di capo tuti of the Mafia, brided untold numbers
of election officials in exchange for protection from federal investigation
into mob activities.  It is an open secret that the winning votes in the 1960
presidential election came from votes cast by dead voters in Chicago.  Many
people, including President Eisenhower, strongly advised Nixon to contest the
vote, but Nixon didn't because he felt it would cause to much damage to the
country.  One can only speculate how different things would've been had Nixon
done so.  No Vietnam?  Perhaps a much shorter Cold War?  Who knows?

As bad as Kennedy was, however, his successor was far worse.  Lyndon Baines
Johnson has the distinction of being perhaps the most corrupt politician ever
to hold the Oval Office.  His corruption is so great that there are many, many
people who believe he had a hand in the assassination of JFK.  He wasn't known
as Landslide Lyndon for nothing.

LBJ was responsible for escalating the war in Vietnam to the point of insanity,
and for a number of failed socioeconomic programs that were abject failures
even by the most lenient standard.  His Great Society, adding to the already
heavy load of entitlements from the FDR era, nearly ruined the economy.  Today,
Medicare and Medicaid are still eating up billions of dollars every year in
stupendous amounts of waste and corruption and fraud.  Another total failure
was Job Core, started in 1965.  It ultimately found jobs for only 44% of
participants at an average wage of about $5.00 an hour, at a cost of $21,333
per client.

A number of studies of the Great Society programs have shown that rather than
help the poor get out of poverty, they in fact led to the spread of poverty and
deepening the stagnation of the poor.  The war in Vietnam and the failure of
social programs played right into the hands of the liberal protesters and
hippie flower children.  Drug use became rampant, and campus unrest grew and
became a major problem for law enforcement.  By the end of his tenure as
president, Johnson's agenda was an abject failure to such an extent that he
became so despondent that he did not run for re-election in 1968.  He was a
broken man.

All of what I have written in these two posts is what really happened in US
history.  No shadings of the truth, no sugarcoating, no political correctness. 
This is what *I* learned when I took history 25 or 30 years ago, before the
liberals took over the school systems.  History is a great thing, and when it
gives you the unvarnished truth, something that will teach you more than almost
anything else in life.  By allowing those with vested interests to alter
history for the sake of expediency, or to fit some ever changing, nebulous
political agenda is nothing short of criminal.  We have at least two
generations of kids that know nothing of the founding of this country, the men
who fought and died to start it, and what has transpired over the last 230
years trying to preserve it.  If it goes the way of Rome and the other great
civilizations of history it won't be because of conservatives, it will be
because of the greed and lust for power and control by those liberals who have
plagued us since the very beginning of this country.


The topics above have just scratched the surface.  It is easy to see how we
have come to the pass we are at today once we understand the origins of our
problems.  Federalists, supporters of "big government" in all areas, liberals -
it doesn't matter what name you give them, they are the source of most of our
problems today in this country.  It boils down to this, however.  Those who
want to restrict us and control us have always been here, and will continue to
try to subjugate us if we don't fight back and do everything we can to expose
the big lie that is their stock in trade.
