Best Buy sucks! And the individuals who work on people's computers at the
local Best Buy's are idiots!


Having said that.......I saw a Dell laptop in this Best Buy about four years
ago that was just what I wanted in a laptop, but the price was over $600. I
was gonna look at the thing until I saw the price tag, which made me just walk
past.


About a year later I saw the same thing there, only the price had dropped to
just over $400, still too high for my frequency of use of it, so I ignored it.


The next time I was in there the price had dropped to $299. I looked at the
other Dell's on the display shelf and saw this was the only one of its model
sitting there. I didn't think the price would drop any more so I decided to
buy it. When I took the slip from the holder that you give to one of the
employees to get you the item, the guy pulled a carton out from under a
counter and put the display laptop into it. Thats the one I got. Turns out it
was the very last one of that model, and the price had dropped to sell it.


Now ordinarily something that was backed by `Best Buy' I wouldn't touch. But
this was backed by Dell. And when I got it home and running, I hooked it to
the InterNet with a router, it went to Dell's web site, and I got to register
it, which put the Dell warranty in force.


Due to space limitations I wanted to downsize my printer, but I need a printer
that does copies without a lot of complicated messing around. Fry's, where I
usually buy my computers, had lots of them at various low prices, and they had
Hewlett Packards galore. But the one I wanted, at Fry's was just a bit pricey.


I stopped in Best Buy on the way home, and found just what I wanted for not
quite half the price Fry's wanted.


I usually only go to Best Buy for software. Their prices on software is about
the lowest in this part of the county. But I got real deals on the laptop and
the printer. The printer is a Hewlett Packard, and is warranteed by HP, not
Best Buy.
