 Justice Antonin Scalia is supposed to be the smartest justice on
 the supreme court. This suggests either his reputation is
 overstated, or the rest of the justices are pretty dumb.

  "Richard Nixon, when he lost to [John F.] Kennedy thought
  that the election had been stolen in Chicago, which was
  very likely true with the system at the time," Justice
  Antonin Scalia told The Telegraph.

 Not only did JFK not win the election by stealing Illinois, he
 could not have won the election by stealing Illinois. JFK's
 margin of victory was 89 electoral votes. Illinios had 25. There
 is no way shifting Illinios to Nixon would change the election.

  In 1960, Mr Kennedy won Illinois by just 8,858 votes and
  there were also allegations of voter fraud in Texas, where
  he won by 46,257 votes. If Mr Nixon had won both states he
  would have reached the White House eight years before he
  beat Hubert Humphrey in 1968.

  Mr Nixon conceded the election to Mr Kennedy rather than
  going to the courts.

 There were allegations. Most likely Nixon chose not to protest
 because he knew there was no way he could show there was any
 such fraud, and possibly because, once he opened that door, the
 democrats would find as much fraud on the part of republicans.

 Even the author of the article knew it was not possible for
 Nixon to win with Illinios alone, but Scalia apparently did not.

  country's best minds, and they are the best minds, is too

 How would he know they are the best minds? How many biologists
 or mathematicians or physists does he hang around with? The
 College board site does not rate law school applicants by SAT
 score, probably because they take the LSAT. However, Math majors
 are the highest group rated, with Physical science majors next.
 Even Philosophy Theology and score number 5.

  class in college go to? It goes into law. They don't go
  into teaching. Now I love the law, there is nothing I would
  rather do but it doesn't produce anything."

 Again, how would he know? Teaching is low paid, but still on the
 level of SATs with business and military science. OTOH, he is
 damning his own choice of profession.
