 But increasing one speed may be necessary to maintain another
 speed. The speed he was required to maintain was a speed above
 the stall speed. The speed he had to increase was his air speed.

 What is hilarious is that you have demonstrated you lack the
 understanding of aerodynamics to rationally discuss this
 subject. Yet you refuse to even make an effort to understand the
 physics.

 Only if they are so ignorant of aerodynamics that they do not
 understand the relationship between stall speed and airspeed.

 Tell you what. Let's try it, find a high school English class,
 you can explain how you see this. Then I will show them how you
 have to increase the airspeed to maintain a speed above the
 stall speed.

 Then I will explain how you just made them look foolish.

 Even better: I believe you live a lot closer to sea level than I
 do. Or at least you can easily reach an airport close to sea
 level. How about you take off from there, and fly to Chicago.
 You are required to maintain the same altitude, say, 300 feet.

 Now you may not realize this, but altimiters are calibrated
 above sea level. So, somewhere well before you arrive in Chicago
 you will arrive at ground level.

 To fly from sea level to Chicago's altitude you will have to
 maintain an altitude above ground, which will mean increasing
 your altitude from starting point to finish. Do you comprehend
 that?
