Here is a factual one:

In an early radio job (in the late forties) I used to tape Paul Harvey's
final "Good Day!" 
There was always a pause before the 'good day' so I would cut the feed
at the pause...then wait 5 0r 6 seconds...then play the "Good Day!"
(Six seconds of dead air is a looooong time)
The manager would come in storming "Did you hear Paul Harvery today?
What's the matter with him?"
I did this several times.
Mr. Manager, if your are reading this: my secret of more'n a half-century
is now out! And now -- you know, the rest of the story.:-)
