Colleagues,
 
I know some of you have been addressing issues here to which I haven't
responded the way I should've.
 
For over 3 months I'm suffering from Ischias (if the spelling is correct). It
is a blocking and/or and infection of the back-nerve. Rather painfull but it
comes and goes, the cure is not yet known as the diagnosis is not 100% yet. It
was possible to work with extended rest periods flat on the back with the left
leg suspended in a 2x90ø angle. Last week during a conference abroad it hit
hard and I barely managed to get home.
 
Now I'm completely flat with a network-cable plugged into the network and
hooked into a laptop via which I can access mail and files. That works.
 
What the future will bring I have no clue but I'll try to keep people posted.
Tomorrowevening and Saturday I should be in Bremen, the 7th and the 8th of
December in Havana ... this is all doubtful.
 
As for the questions raised by David Rance and Alex Woick about segment
processing.
 
For some misterious reason sometimes something goes wrong with the R25-segment.
I have asked you David to send me an accompanying netmail when sending in a
segment so I could have a look, processing is automatic and otherwhise the
event is gone without a trace/clue. This kind of netmail has never been
received, it's not an issue for me but I just want to clear up this matter.
 
What I do notice though is that problems are possible because the system has
been set-up to receive 1 region-segment at a time and process it. This dates
from the 1-line-only PSTN-days. There is a line in the batch-file looking like:
 
               IF EXIST REGION*.* GOTO xxxx
 
This has unpredictable result when at the same time 2 or several region-files
arrive as I accept PSTN, FTP and e-mail attach. The batch-file works with
wild-cards and most likely a segment may be overlooked then.
 
In all likelyhood that's what happens with the R25-segment. The R24-problem is
a mistery to me if the source of all evil there would be somewhere else.
 
I'm a little bit annoyed to be labeled as being non-communicative where-as I
believe I'm the most responsive ZC ever ... well, maybe Ron Dwight, he followed
matters from real close too.
 
All I can say is that I try to look into this and will try to adapt the
batch-file that processes the region-files to avoid a re-occurence.
 
Now if you don't get mail from me for another few days then please don't panic.
You can always netmail RC29 Johan Zwiekhorst who's got my phone and can call me
if urgent matters arise that require my attention.
