After I fell through the cracks, I wanted to take up as much space as I could
whilst there, so no one else would fit. <G>

Effective? Not always. Annoying? I'm sure, but I'd had plenty of annoyances,
and far be it for the perpetrators not to realize how their policies or
practices have affected me. It's a shame that the two doctors who were most to
blame for my inappropriate care are long gone, and will likely never hear my
outrage. (I think I mentioned I'd like to verbally rip a strip off them, and
start down the other side?)

Right now, as a resident of Alberta, I find compassionate support direly
lacking. As I told one fellow at the crisis centre, "If you're a sick kitty up
a tree in this provence, you gonna *die* a sick kitty up a tree." (He was from
Ontario, but I told him I wouldn't hold that against him. ;-)

I've lost count of how many times I've called city hall for assistance in my
twelve-year neglected yard work, and they are about to get another. I know the
person I talk to is not to blame for the lack of services for people in my
situation, but it's not going to prevent me from trying to instill some good
hearted humour into the quagmire.

I just received a flyer in the mailbox, stating that my community has
instigated a volunteer day to help cleanup the neighborhood. Maybe that is an
indirect response to my umpteen requests to date. <?> Now, if I can only get
them to truck out a couple of loads from my address; I'll take the before and
after photographs. <EG>

And rightly, the traffic department only runs their mathematical analysis on
their streets, and one fast walk signal here or there doesn't likely cross
their desks. The average Joe never notices, unless they have personal
experience with a challenged person. Even if they have experience, chances are
the person hasn't realized the complaints, or the issuing party gets tired of
explaining it so many times...

It's nice that we have more handicapped people in a position of power to raise
complaints and issues the normal (Not meant as a compliment.) politician
wouldn't recognize. Then there's people like you three and myself, for the
cities that still can't buy a clue. <-;

Well, I try not to put the screws on too tight. Mind you, I'd been pretty
ferocious with one doctor once. (Same long story. :-)

...And some people just rub each other in the wrong way. One fellow my father
was sharing room with, once told an RN that she wasn't a nurse, she was an
opportunist. I've never gone that far, but I had been tempted a few times.
That's what made it so funny when I first heard him deal with the ditz. I was
torn between hiding in the locker, or laughing *real* hard in her face.

I offered to bring my own if that would ease their paperwork. NADA! Today, they
have something in place to deal with my type. <EG>

Sure, but the omission would be the bigger sin, IMO. A cousin of mine was an ER
RN for years, and quickly became the goto girl on the ward! I know for a fact,
that I couldn't do the job she did.
