Ärende: ... and Then... Again
=============================
On or about 11-23-05 10:32, Ardith Hinton did engage James Bradley

JB> Don't get me wrong. Palate is/was a smart cookie! Sharp
JB> as a whip, well researched, and solid in execution.

AH> Noted. I'm taking your word for it because you
AH> obviously know a lot more about Pilates than I do. And
AH> don't get me wrong. Although I may express some cynicism
AH> as to how they're marketed I'm not dismissing his ideas....
 AH> :-)

...*Her* ideas! <L>

If I'm the expert here, we are ALL in trouble. By proximity to a graduate on
the topic, I may know more just by osmosis.

AH> exercise ball in place of a chair... and a physiotherapist
AH> advised me to stand on my toes during my many daily walks
 AH> to & from the kitchen. :-))

You were having problems with heal-spurs?

AH> So the sore bumosis reminds you to do your exercises.

I don't know about that, but if you mean my coccyx or gluteal to the maximus...

AH> Okay... this sounds similar to what you & Nora are
AH> experiencing with regard to the current condition. In Nora's case I
AH> can guess when a particular joint is "waking up" because she
AH> says it hurts a lot. She also says she finds cold very
AH> painful at times, just as my father did. The reasons are
AH> different, of course, but now I'm wondering if the pain in
AH> your hip is an extreme version of the tingling you had in
AH> your injured finger. I read somewhere once that an itch is
AH> a mild form of pain... maybe the tingling is too! And
AH> Dallas & I know from experience how a wiring harness
AH> behaves when the ends haven't been joined up correctly. As
AH> you said, your brain may have some relearning to do.... :-)

Again, I'm starting to trust the professionals in the matter, so I can only
parlay my grasp on what they told me. As I'm sure I have mentioned, the brain
don't work like it used to, and I'm not just saying that as a quip to my
ageing.

AH> Yes, there is. Remember the donkey from ANIMAL
AH> FARM who kept saying "I will work harder"? Years ago I

No, I've never read the story, or seen the movie. I know I should have by now.

AH> thought that way because I'd been raised by folks who
AH> thought that way, but it's not my natural thinking style.
AH> In time I learned to "use my head to save my feet", as an
AH> older waitress I'd worked with advised, and improve my
AH> efficiency in other fields of endeavour too... [grin].

Ditto. I think it's a real affront to their sensibilities when proven stupid...
Er, I mean ineffective. The breath I've waisted explaining myself!!!

This Christmas, mom has a brand new batch of rechargeable batteries, WITH the
instructions. When asked this summer why her cell-phone batteries were not
lasting, I said I haven't a clue. "But you know a lot about this stuff."

"No, I've been waisting my breath trying to get you to listen, and now you want
me to repeat myself... Again?!? What guarantee do I have that you are going to
listen this time, when you haven't the dozens of times before? Nope, I know
nothing!"

I know I had a more willing student than before, but the bigger lesson had to
be taught.

JB> profession was purported to be the panacea to all
JB> knowledge. When there's an "I don' know." the illusion
 JB> disappears.

AH> Yes... but we have the opportunity to interact with the
AH> medicos on an Adult/Adult level. I still remember when prescription
AH> drugs weren't identified on the containers used by the
AH> patients, and it was virtually impossible for the general
AH> public to lay hands on a book or a magazine about medical
AH> issues. Then when Nora was in the primary grades the
AH> mothers of her classmates stopped me on the street to ask
AH> questions like "What's the Internet?" Nowadays we don't
AH> have to shut up & do as the doctor says unless we want to.
AH> We can check out various sources of information, as you did
AH> with your hip, and decide for ourselves what to do. When
AH> doctors can admit to what they don't know I respect them
AH> for that, but I resent being told it's all in my head
AH> because they can't explain it. You know things they don't
AH> know about your body because you are wearing it.... :-)

OK... So again I'm finding that anti-inflammatory drugs do me no favours.
Again, my doctor doesn't know of any conditions that would cause this. The ones
I was on in November were ones that should *only* be taken occasionally. I
thought, "Maybe, with a alleviation of pressure, I am allowed to damage the
joint further, when I stop the treatment, the pain is only compounded. <?>"

"Try these."

I did, and I'm as positive as every other time, that they do me no good.
Rightly, or wrongly, there is no info about this in the product literature, yet
here I am in tears while on the stuff. I know little to nothing on the matter,
and I don't *care* to know. Yup, we have the ability to learn, but if the
information is not common, or worse, not available...
