===========================
Hi again, James! This is a continuation of my previous message:

JB> Sharp Cheddar - now there's an improvement!

AH> It costs more by weight, but it has more flavour....

JB> Plus, there's no colouring IIRR.

If it's flame orange, it probably has colouring... but you can get
it without. Years ago, I read somewhere that summer butter is a darker yellow
than winter butter because it has more vitamin A in it. I guess the makers of
butter & cheese add colouring in many cases because, while their customers
expect these things to come in vivid yellow & orange, they don't consciously
know *why*. :-)

JB> Lots o'pepper, and maybe a shot of paprika... Mmmm!
JB> I've some sweet yellow pepers, and Jalapenos from a
JB> pail grown setup. They sure are fine, right off the
JB> vine! (Ya, it aint much for a rhyme, but in time...)

Ah... I feel a research project coming on! Nora tells me spicy
foods help when she has a tummy ache. I was a bit dubious until I read that
jalape¤os help with the digestion. And IIRC, paprika is good for something or
other. :-)

JB> It's a little amusing to understand my sisters' break
JB> point.

JB> Some of her recidivist juveniles, slautered a ptarmigan,
JB> preped it, and cooked it up. Not until she was done, did
JB> they fess up to the proceedings. I don't know how that
JB> differes from feeding doggie treats to the babysitter,
JB> but she has never touched a fowl, or mammal carcass since.

Some people don't like to think too much about where their food
cones from. I had an aunt who thought it was okay to eat fish but not meat
because... according to her... fish don't feel pain. I was only about ten
years old at the time she said this. But I couldn't help wondering why, if
fish don't feel pain, they struggle so hard to get away when they've been
caught on a hook.

Around the same time a friend told me about her mother's recent
visit to Hawaii. She ate something at a restaurant, then said "That's very
good! I'd like some more. What is it?" When she found out, she changed her
mind.... :-)

AH> Dallas & I thought it tasted like dog food. So we fed
AH> the leftovers to our two dogs, and evidently they enjoyed
AH> it every bit as much as our guest had.... ;-)

JB> WAH!!! My two sisters baked up the plan, that they should
JB> feed those macaroon type doggie treats to our baby sitter
JB> one evening. How confluent can that be? <Busting a gut!>

Great minds think alike, eh?? I'm also reminded of the story about
a guy who ate cat food by mistake & then told his wife how much he had enjoyed
the meat loaf in the fridge. I must say the tuna & cheese does sound good....
:-))

JB> I've found, that you can tell a lot about a person by
JB> their opinion of an event, or their take on a personality.

Uh-huh. I noticed an example at a recent kayaking camp. A few of
us were chatting & one individual who was a total stranger to me commented
(apropos of what I don't recall) "I never had much use for Latin after I left
school." I replied "I did... but I'm an English teacher." YMMV. No muss, no
fuss, no hard feelings. We went on chatting amicably about something else.
Many people think it's rude to use the word "I", though. Sometimes they say
things like "Latin is useless!" without regard for their audience, then they're
the picture of injured innocence when they see that other people have steam
coming out their ears. :-/

JB> When I hold someone high on the 'totem pole', and on
JB> further inspection, realize they are shooting the animals
JB> below them on that figurative pole is always deflating.

Interesting idea. I guess the anger & disillusionment we may feel
in these situations probably has as much to do with ourselves as with them...
we're ashamed of our faulty judgement. IMHO we don't know a person well until
we have seen their dark side, and the same applies to us. But we may realize,
on closer acquaintance, that we & others have more depth than we thought at
first.... :-)
