Ärende: Food & Drugs... 2A.
============================
On or about: 11-09-06 18:21, Ardith Hinton did engage James Bradley regarding,
but not limited to: Food & Drugs... 2A.

JB> I just found out Cheddar is a region in England.

AH> Quite possibly. Gouda, for example, is a place in the
 >...
AH> OF GREAT BRITAIN. I see Stilton, Wensley(dale),
 AH> Gloucester, Cheshire.... :-))

See???

AH> the mould spread to other comestibles in the vicinity...
 AH> [chuckle].

Comestible... There's a word I'll have to look up. <G>

AH> As I understand the situation humans can
AH> manufacture vitamin D in the presence of sunshine. Here in
AH> the coastal rain forest there's less sunshine in winter.
AH> Even in Calgary, where you probably get much more sunshine
AH> than we do, the rays of the sun are less direct. And
AH> according to some sources humans need vitamin D in order to
AH> assimilate vitamin A. It's my guess cows do too.... :-)

Well, a cow might spend more time in a barn, but some of us nuts climb, or are
transported to the top of a mountain. From there, one can usually garner enough
sunshine to last for some time. Add the reflections usually with snow, or
puddles of water from a chinook... I do think we are still in a deficit from
summer months, but more for our propensity to hibernate, more than to walk in
the park. The reduced angle of light is not the problem by itself, but the
acumulated amount of atmosphere it must travel through. You get up to the thin
air in higher elevations, and that factor almost goes away. I'm sure, once one
goes even further North, where there would be no sun for months at a time, then
things really tally up. I wonder what the studies in vit absorbsion say, when
we try to live up there? Something tells me Eskimo diet - with the raw fish -
would be more able to supply A, and D, but I only base this on assumption.

JB> There's a tune of harmony in your statement.

AH> That is my intention! The thought also occurred
AH> to me that you might crave salt because it helps the body
AH> absorb a number of other minerals.... :-)

Huh... Imagine... I've always had a taste for Mayonnaise. Maybe *that's* part
of my passing my blood tests.

AH> Birds of a feather... [chuckle]. Years ago, Dallas & were
AH> playing in PIRATES OF PENZANCE. We needed two "A" clarinets (used
AH> primarily in orchestral work... i.e. not what we do 99% of
AH> the time). We were able to borrow one. And although we
AH> were willing to buy another, we didn't want to spend a lot
AH> of money on it. Dallas went to a local music store & found
AH> one for $25. That was about the amount we'd had in mind.
AH> The owner made sure he realized the price was "as is"
AH> because a number of levers didn't work. To an experienced
AH> clarinet player, the reason was obvious... a bent bridge
AH> key. Beginners often forget how to put the parts together
AH> without getting them tangled up. So Dallas straightened

By using their big mittens, instead of their grey matter to wrap around the
cylndrical thingies?

AH> the key with his fingers... the clarinet worked
AH> perfectly... and he said "I'll take it!" in less time than
AH> I took writing this sentence. As he was leaving, he saw
AH> the owner heading for the repair department with a grim
AH> look on his face. What Dallas did in a few seconds
AH> probably increased the value by over $100.... :-))

I suspect that's like my laundry tubs of tools. $150, and after about twenty
minutes of work, I can resell about $500 worth of tools, as second hand, or
almost new. I did keep an air nailer/stapler, that retails for $70-80. It had a
staple lodged in the breech. Two minutes later, bada-bing! If I can get the
contractor nailer to go, that will be close to a two hundred dollar tool.

JB> Today, my "F-ed up Ford" has the serial number ending
 JB> in a "666-9". I've beeen toying with a paint scheme
JB> including an "El Diablo" or "The Beast" declaration.

AH> Maybe because you're a Youngest & you enjoy playing the
AH> Bratty Little Brother... or maybe because you know more about
AH> numerology than other folks do! There are letters and/or
AH> numbers besides what you mentioned. Has anybody tried
AH> adding them all up, considering the whole picture? Somehow
 AH> I doubt it.... ;-)

Me... HELL no! I tempt fate enough as it is! <L> Numerology, I gather in the
same pile as pyramid power, and brainwashing. Sorry if I might offend, but I
was reared in a curious time, with a somewhat conservative home. I really tried
to get on a few of those boats, but the more I learned of them, the more
disappointed I became with them.

Just before opening this, I saw on the TV, a couple who would store their fruit
under a pyramid, in a three tiered wire hanger. They were going on and on, yet
the same can be said about my fruit, stored in the same hangar without eight
sticks flopping around on top. A) The pyramid is supposed to garner its energy
from an alignment to either true North, or magnetic North. (I don't care to
care which.) The "power" this pendulum would bring, would be negligible
according to the pundits, yet they were going on at length with aplomb! No, I
left all the hocus pocus to liberals, and the spiritually needy.

I had a Johova knock on my door, where I was using my standard lines to rid her
from my threshold. In my mind, I was thinking, "Did a fellow named John Smith
tell you the world is about to end, and now your want to trasfer your paranoia
to me?" All the while, my neighbour, and a carpenter buddy was working in
eyeshot from us. Just as I managed to blow her off, he pipes in, "You better
take it! [The pamphlet.]" with a huge tone of sarcasm. This humour to me, is
closer to God than any organized religeon.

... James
