It'll certainly be interesting to see how they'll do it without eliminating
some of the characters (like Purdy or Rebecca).   I wonder if the producers
were actually expecting this to be the end?

I don't think it was picked up previously.  Last summer's ratings, while not
as bad as the disaster from the early second season (when they tried to
compete with the broadcast networks during sweeps), weren't considered
great.   As I recall, it was touch and go whether there would be a third
season at all...

This season, however, has been up from last year and DZ made a good
follow-up to USA's highest rated show of the summer, THE 4400.   There are
some networks who have canceled shows because they failed to retain what
they thought was enough audience, but I doubt that will happen here.

BTW: USA dominated cable this summber, helped heavily by all their original
programming.  On average, THE 4400 got a household rating of 4.7, while MONK
had a 4.1 and THE DEAD ZONe trailed with a 2.7.

I'm not so sure.   Given Stillson's personal relationship with Rachel, it
wouldn't surprise me if he was the one grilling her about what she saw.

I agree that there could've been a better build up of a few things during
the season and the supporting cast often seemed underused.... but, in
general, I felt there were a greater number of individually strong stories.
