That is what I believe the problem was.  I just partially built an up-to-date
system with state of the art architecture and it won't install on it, either. 
I'll have to find an old 386 machine somewhere and try it on that.  When I had
one of those back in the early 90s, I ran OS/2 from December '92 until Win95
came out.

Sadly, yes.  I don't know what IBM was thinking.
