Howdy! Holger, Ben and All,

Yes, Mine does that.
It says the BIOS Battery is dead and offers two F Key choices.
1. Go to the BIOS
2. Continue with starting the computer

If I Continue the start up Windows 95 fails looking for a VXD(sp?) file.
So I hold the F8 Key forever to get the thing to show me the Safe Mode Menu.

Also because of the dead BIOS battery I've learned any changes I make to
the BIOS is lost after I've selected YES and presed the Enter Key.

It won't let me change the Date or Time if I select the
BASIC SYSTEM SETTINGS option, but I can enter the Date and Time at a
Command Prompt after I've selected that option from the Safe Boot Menu
for Command Prompt (not the Safe Mode Command Prompt).

The computer will let the Date I set stay the same but the Time stays at
12:00 AM (Midnight).

I tried running CHKDSK /f and it tells me to run SCANDISK on the Acer HDD.
I ran SCANDISK many many times and it don't find any problems with
the Acer HDD, even though XP Disk Management says different.

I tried to open the Acer 370P to see if I can replace the BIOS battery
but I couldn't figure out how to get the case open.

And that hurts.

Even though I don't know everything about computer things, I have opened
up Receivers and Transmitters and Accessories in my Amateur Radio shack
and other electronic things around the house to see what makes them work,
Plus I can read a Schematic, but there isn't a Howard Sams PhotoFacts
published for my AcerNote Light 370P Notebook.

At the BIOS screen I can select the other two options for
SYSTEM SECURITY and POWER MANAGEMENT SETTINGS
and change the settings but after telling the thing YES I want to save
BIOS Settings, and pressing the Enter Key any settings I changed are lost.

The default setting for CD-ROM BOOTABLE in the BIOS is [Disabled] .
I can't tell the thing to BOOT the Acer Library CD to Recover the system.
I know that there is always something or some one to keep me humble,
and it's this W95 notebook right now. <GRIN>

I have ran Ubuntu in a VM, the Acer HDD doesn't show up, even though it
is listed as the G: HDD in Windows My Computer.
Ubuntu shows Ben's HDD and the CD-ROM in the VM but I am not sure if
I could Run the Acer Library CD in Ubuntu and it would put what is needed
to make the computer work with Ben's HDD.

I sure wouldn't want the internal HDD to be changed over to W95, even though
I've made a recent BackUp I could use to restore the OS.

I don't know enough about Ubuntu to run the CD in a Ubuntu VM to risk it.

This is as much as I know to write about the goings on here in the
Computer Room.

Any and All advice is appreciated. Thanks In Advance.

Next I'm going to look at the eHow and iFixIt websites to see if I can
find some help there.
