No, not all in one lump (directory).  Just going from memory (I'm currently on
Barb's U'u)... I was using a (virtual) floppy disk-based install set.  There
was some nonsense error on disk #5, I think, when it was looking for hardware
drivers.  If you consider the virtual hardware presented by vBox is nowhere
near the same 'technical level' as was available in 1993, then it's
understandable that WFWG would have trouble with it.  (Some discussions on the
vBox site already indicated that it was exceedingly difficult, if not
impossible.)

It was only a "would be nice" project so I gave up (after the second of two
attempts, BTW).  I was looking for a network solution for my MS-DOS 6.22 vBox. 
:)  These days I don't have a need.

Frankly, no.  It survived till at least 1997, as I recall buying a DX4/100 CPU
from one of my users and upgrading the box.  The box was still running the BBS
in December '98 when it developed its own 'big bang'.  It went through a
classic meltdown.  (It was our family PC as well as the BBS machine.)  Barb & I
were in the family room (nearby) watching TV, when the PC sprouted sparks &
smoke with astonishing sound effects, and, ceased to be a PC.

From the 'ashes' we've moved on through totally different BBS-related software,
multiple PCs (just checked: seven PCs exactly a decade ago), and, various
Windows versions.  Now, we're based on a combination of U'u + vBox-ed PCs. 
Imagine the power-consumption savings!  :-)

There is still one PC in my stash from the turn-of-the-century era, complete
with a USR v.everything modem.  I like to think it's the same box as the old
486's, now armed with a Pentium-75Mhz CPU and either 8 or 16 megs of RAM.  I
just don't know.  It's waiting, patiently, to be turned on again and run the
Fidonet mailer + BBS in real hardware.  :)
