==============
Hello Dan,

    Responding to a post in the WIN95 area:
    On Saturday December 11 2004 at 22:07,
    Dan Ceppa [1:123/666] wrote to Gerald Miller,
    about: EMM386

Not to worry. MEMMAKER is included with the supplemental disk.

 GM>>> DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE RAM HIGHSCAN I=B000-B7FF WIN=B300-B7FF

The HELP executable is also on the sup disk.

 DC> That would be helpful! Thanks!

http://download.microsoft.com/download/win31/update/1/dos/en-us/sup622.exe

If you can't obtain the file from that URL, you can go to the following
Microsoft site and there is a link to download the supplemental disk:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B117600

When you execute sup622.exe, it will extract all the files into the current
directory (so be careful where you run this program from, otherwise you're
going to have a lot of files in a folder where you might not want them.
Maybe run the self-extracting executable in Windows\Temp.).

There is a single batch file to install all the supplemental files and your
destination directory should probably be where all the other DOS files
reside (Windows\Command, I believe). The batch file will put SETVER.EXE in
the correct folder and you will have to modify your Config.sys file to add:

  DEVICEHIGH=C:\WINDOWS\SETVER.EXE

If this line is not added to Config.sys (and reboot the system), then any
of the supplemental disk programs that you might run will probably issue a
"Incorrect DOS version" error message. Setver will make allowances and
fool Command.com into "thinking" these programs are okay to run and you
won't see the error message.

 GM>> When I ran MEMMAKER on my 98 box, it searched for Windows and
 GM>> optimized my Config.sys, Autoexec.bat and one of the Windows INI

 DC> It sounds like I need a copy of MEMMAKER.

  MS-DOS is resident in the high memory area.

Not a big gain, but I suppose every little gain is likely significant.

 DC> It's good to see that it works for you under WIN.

It's not easy (it never is).

Right now, I'm struggling with trying to get 4DOS v7.50 to work in 98SE. I
have to figure out what memory tweaks are necessary in the 4DOS.PIF
properties. Memmaker can't help me here... <sigh>

           Cheers ... Gerald
