Ärende: Update on Ghost & IFD

Today, I decided to try Ghost 2001 again. I created a boot floppy with just
the system files and ghostpe.exe on it. 62% (700MB) into the imaging process,
the drive tray opens, then closes and the system locks-up. According to the
status bar, it was closing the disc. I rebooted the system into windows.
Windows shows that the disc is an audio Cd and that there is a 128KB Track01
file on the disc. My Cd burning program say that the disc is empty when I
chose to erase the Cd. I chose to erase anyway. It used the Full erase method.
It has used the quick erase method in the past to erase discs. I assume this
was because of the ghost burning process. I am convinced it is an
incompatibility problem. I think it is weird that it takes 62% into the
process before there is a problem.

I also tested Image for Dos again, today (3rd time). I chose BIOS HD. There is
an option for BIOS HD (direct). Don't know the difference. I also chose to
Validate Byte-For Byte comparison. No errors reported. I used the same boot
floppy...deleted ghostpe and copied Image for Dos on it.

A couple of days ago, I created an image, but the Byte-for-Byte Comparison
validation failed...said could not read data. I did use F8 to boot from HD
and ran the program from HD. Can't remember if I used Normal or Safe mode.
Not sure if this is why the validation failed. I then tried it again and I
chose BIOS HD (direct). The Validation passed, but there was no option for
Byte-for-Byte comparison. I also used F8 to boot from HD and ran the program
from the HD. I guess if I want to use BIOS HD and Byte-for-Byte comparison,
then I need to boot and run the program from the floppy. It is probably the
preferred way, anyway.

I now have 2 sets of CD's. One with BIOS HD and the other BIOS HD (direct).
Not sure which one to keep. I have not tried to restore from either one yet.
I did test to see if the set I made with BIOS HD (direct) boots. It does. I
Have not tried the other set yet. I like that it makes the CD bootable
automatically (no option to select). Image for Dos seems to be the best choice
for me. I like it because you just need to copy the files. No install or setup
to perform. I need to figure out which option (BIOS HD or BIOS HD (direct)) is
the
right one for me. Does anyone know the difference between the 2 options and
which is best? I also wish there was a way to test the restore process
without putting my HD at risk. 

Sorry for the lon message. Just thought I would give as much detail as
possible. Maybe this info will be help to someone out there.
