I'm a bit confused here George as to exactly what you were doing
to create the image of your 80 Gig drive?  I've never had True Image
act the way you describe.  I've been using TI faithfully since version 7
currently using version 9.

Why TI rebooted in the middle of the copying process is a mystery, but I
suspect it's due to faulty hardware not the TI program.

The entire recovery process for HP (and Compaq) is convoluted -
especially considering there's no way to check and verify the recovery
CDs or DVDs that are made until you have to use them.

You definitely had a hardware failure somewhere with something - Gremlins?
Don't throw water on them or they'll multiply.  <g>

Well, at least the HP recovery worked.  Still, I would not be quick to
blame True Image.  Being very familiar with the HP Compaq line of
machines, I have to suspect there's a hardware issue waiting to pop up its
ugly head once more.  Just keep your backups up to date.
