Tom,

All my computers from the C=64 to the 2 Compatible PC towers I own were
pre assembled.

I can at least say I have added Hardware to the 2 PC Compatibles,
so I have been inside the boxes a bit, but I don't know if I could build
one from the ground up.

My brother who lives in West Virginia was by saturday and said he had
been to our local Office Depot looking at a HP a1430n, and he wanted me
to go by the store and see what I thought about it.

The price after rebate was under US$700.00 and its' features blew my
mind. I called him after he got home that evening and told him it looked
good to me, even if it didn't come with a monitor.

While I was in the store talking to a salesperson I was told that
besides selling HP, Compaq, e Machines and Gateways, they also can order
custom built SysteMax computers.

He told me that OD and TigerDirect sells the SysteMax PCs, I checked
on the web and found that to be true.

I never heard of SysteMax PCs before, have you (or anyone else)?

From what I read on the printout I was given about a SysteMax Ascent
HA3200 PC, I noticed that the Sound, Video and Networking are Integrated
on the Motherboard instead of on seperate cards.
I haven't learned how many PCI Slots are empty on the MB either, but I
will do some more searching at http://www.systemaxpc.com/ for more info
such as that.

I still don't think I will go to LINUX, but I'm dreading going to XP
with that WGA that Jeff forwarded information to the Echo.

Maybe I could hunt up that box of LINUX software that was given to me
several years ago, I haven't the slightest idea where I put it so I
could call it by name, I just know it wasn't any of the popular named
versions that are offered today.
