Good decision.  HP is the number two seller in the US of computers so
they must be doing something right.  I've seen a number of the higher
end HP notebooks on sale at Costco.  Some of them are very well
equipped.

Now that you're running XP, there's a wealth of freeware that you can
download and try out.  Word processors (AbiWord) text editors (EditPad
Lite) and so forth.  Of course you do need a fast connection.

They now have four very large warehouse type stores in the Dallas-Fort
Worth Metro area.  They sell everything from major appliances to
electronic parts.  They even stock a nice line of candy, snacks, and
other goodies to make you fat.  <g>

Sure you could.  Most everything that you need is already
pre-assembled.  The hardest task is installing the operating system.
